What makes this song particularly lovely for me is that although my father was from the North of France (his parents were actually Polish and had settled to work in the coalmines after the First World War), my mother was from North Africa - where the singer, Enrico Macias, is too! So it is like a tribute to both my parents, whom I miss very, very much.
